Pearson’s Technology in Action: Data Sizes

February 14, 2018 By Rick Wolff

During the summer of 2016, I considered a site specializing in HTML5 animation that would tell involved stories, like the best comic books. I actually got it up and running. It was noticed by editors from Pearson Education, who also saw my LinkedIn profile, which at the time featured my specialization in infographics. This led to my designing and submitting three illustrations for the revision of their textbook, Technology in Action.

Originally the book was an introduction to computers, back when a lot of terms popular today were still unfamiliar, like exponents of bytes (megabytes, gigabytes, terabytes).

The first image told the story in a more contemporary way, using the capacities of the biggest known storehouses of data for comparison.
